IPL-2 Diary – Karma of Graeme Smith

18 April, 2009 at 22:56 Leave a comment

It was the 6th ball of the 3rd over. Ball pitches on middle and goes legside. Very close too. Umpire asks Graeme Smith if it had touched/brushed him. Smith says no and it is declared as a wide. The bowler and captain complain but to no avail. There is an extra ball to be bowled.
Praveen Kumar this time bowls a swinger in an offstump line. Smith fishes for the ball, nicks it and gets it directed to wide of second slip. He is caught and out. This is the same extra ball that was gifted courtesy of the umpire’s consultation with Smith. What an irony. Funnily cute cricket moment.
