Silly Bru Advert

Advertising in India is in general quite lame. But the recent Bru (instant coffee) ad takes the cake for its stupidity. Here’s how it goes…

It is raining. Wife comes home tired and dry. Makes coffee and brings two cups. Husband is watching TV and asks her why the long face. Wife tells that car broke down and that she had to come home walking. Husband asks if car is OK. Wife gives a why-did-I-marry-this-idiot look and crashes on couch. Husband has coffee and ‘mood ban jaaye’.
He feels sorry and massages one of her foot. Wife gives a you-will-score-today look, smiles and pushes the second foot too for massage. Cue: Jingle and punch-line.

Now that I have put it like this, it sounds more like stupid than silly. Anyhoo, there are a couple of plot holes here. First is the husband asking if the car is OK. Secondly, why did the wife not call the husband when the car broke down? Is she a feminist or something? One can probably point more mistakes if there is nothing else to do. No wonder, if this commercial will not win any awards nor customers.
