Beauty Mirage vs. Happiness

I have been to Chennai for a quick couple of days. Caught with a good mate in IIT-Madras through a visit to his small family nested in PhD quarters, a movie and dinner. I should say I have been impressed by the colouring wherever I went. Chennai has become a bit more cosmopolitan than I remember (which is not a lot).

What was more apparent though was that the beauty business in Madras is so well, ‘in your face’. There were hoardings at bus stations, large VLCC offices, Lakme salons, counters in malls and what not. At some college junctions, women were wearing white long gloves to protect their hands from darkening. Blah blah blah… which makes me wonder, are we all chasing a beauty mirage?
