Superman Steel Arms – Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is one of the few shows that I find quite funny. In one episode (captured in essence by the official ‘Talk Nerdy to Me’ bits and so, no copyright infringement I hope), the dialogue goes like this –
Penny: You know, I do like the one where Lois Lane falls from a helicopter and Superman swooshes and catches her…
Sheldon: You realize that that scene was rife with scientific inaccuracies
Penny: Yes, I know. Men can’t fly
Sheldon: No. No. Let us assume that they can. Lois Lane is falling accelerating at an initial rate of 32 ft/sec/sec… Superman swoops to save her by extending two arms of steel. Miss Lane who is travelling at approximately 120 miles/hour hits them and is immediately sliced into 3 pieces…

I think that is a perfectly plausible outcome if the science of Superman is true. At some level, I wish this would be true so that we can all be spared of the can-be-fooled-by-glasses-Lois-Lane character and let Superman free from emotional distress. Yep! I am evil…
