Great, Andhra?

Was talking to S and she told me of a site called Greatandhra. Apparently, it has movies and all. Now, that set me thinking. What is anything ‘great’ about ‘andhra’? I mean, Great Britain makes sense. A million people conquering the world and establishing an empire.

But a ‘great’ Andhra? What did we ever do to deserve that tag? Not deserved per-se but someone even using it? Posed the same question to S and she replied as-a-matter-of-factly about finding nice biryani (it is a spice flavoured rice with meat and vegetables according to choice). Fair enough, but the irony is that 90% of the population of Andhra cannot afford it nor have ever tasted it.

The explanation of people even feeling this way about their so-called “homeland” (which is surprising given that only ones grandfathers have ever been born there – even Meg Hourihan does this) is a simple theory concerning empty vessels and sounds and all that. Enough said…
